Today we looked at our standards and decided, individually, which three standards we were comfortable with and which three standards we still needed to work on.

“Speed dating”
Each student will have one concept/standard/vocabulary word to review. Each chair will be set in front of another chair. Each student will have an index card with the standard and a practice CRCT question on the other side. All students will also have a graphic organizer so that they can fill in their information. Each student will have 2 minutes to discuss, answer their practice question, and then rotate one seat to their right. Only the students on one side will have a chance to share their facts. It should take about 45 minutes.

This game worked so well!! We also used a virtual timer (found online at http://www.timeme.com/timer.htm)

Today, we split into our color groups and played an AWESOME game of four corners. On each corner of the room, we had a large sheet with either A, B, C, or D on it.

The teams competed against each other with their CRCT knowledge-- they had a minute to answer as many questions as possible!

Monday, April 14, 2008

This week the students will be put on random “color teams”— purple, green, yellow, orange, black, white. Today, we will draw names out of a hat to ensure that the groups are random. The winning color team will get lunch from McDonalds on Friday. We will have mini competitions all week long.

We are also going to go over our spring break packets. For each student who brings a packet back, one point will be added to their color team's score. Also, those who brought in their packets (completed!) get an extra 100!

Today's CRCT Games!!
“Musical Chairs”
Students will answer CRCT questions on chairs on individual pieces of paper. There will be as many chairs and questions as there are students. They will be numbered from 1-30(ish… depending on how many students are in the classroom). They will have 45 seconds at each chair. Chairs won’t be taken away—the music and the “switch” part will be the only parts that emulate the original musical chairs. By the end of the game, each student should have an answer to each of the 30 questions. There will be a key placed on the overhead so they can check their own answers.
